Red Queen
Martin Králík
The Red Queen is a chess piece from the story of Alice in the Wonderland that is constantly running to keep it in place because the world around her is still on the move. Therefore, it is the symbol of evolutionary theory of the infinite necessity of innovation and eternal escape from competitors. The Red Queen plant is portrayed as a miniature neoindustrial civilization in a clearly hierarchical chaos. This is an interactive installation built from a control computer, eight FDM printers and several generations of evolving entities that the system itself creates. Every other entity is a unique code that is the result of calculating the evolutionary recombination processed by the computer, depending on the reactions of external observers to already created objects. The purpose of each entity is therefore to attract attention. The faster it can handle, the greater the chance of continuing its code in future generations.
