VERONIKA MIKULOVÁ - Himmeli
The suspended spatial object is created using a traditional Scandinavian technique called himmeli. The name comes from the Swedish word 'himmel', meaning heaven. Himmeli is traditionally associated with the lives of farmers, who used such structures as decorations. They symbolized soil, but also rich harvest. The young artist Veronika Mikulova bases her work on this tradition and incorporates new associations into it. The installation plays with geometric shapes and is based on the Platonic solids. Platonic solids are composed of identical regular polygons. Veronika used the octahedron, which symbolizes air.
